1. Start With a Good Pickaxe
The first tip for successful mining in Minecraft 1.20 is to make sure you have a good pickaxe. The higher the level of your pickaxe, the faster and more efficient your mining will be. In recent versions of the game, there are new tiers of pickaxes to be aware of. The netherite tier is the highest level and the most durable, making it the best pickaxe to use for mining. If you haven't yet acquired netherite, diamond is the next best option. To make a netherite pickaxe in Minecraft 1.20 you will need to get a netherite upgrade template from a Bastian Remnant treaure chest. Make sure you duplicate that template with 7 diamonds and 1 netherrack in a crafting table and use the duplicate to make the netherite pickaxe. Keep the upgrade template for making more duplicates. You only need one, but that one will be hard to get.
2. Use a Torch Trick for Efficient Mining
Mining in Minecraft can be a slow and tedious process, but there is a trick to speed things up. When mining in a straight line, place a torch every ten blocks. This trick prevents monsters from spawning and helps you keep track of how far you've mined.
3. Mine at Different Levels
Mining at different levels is another tip for successful mining in Minecraft 1.20. Try mining at different heights to find the most ores. The most common ores, such as coal and iron, can now be found most requently in high mountains, but other ores, such as diamonds and emeralds, are found at specific levels. Diamonds are most commonly found between levels 45 and bedrock, while emeralds are found in the stoney peaks biome.
4. Bring a Water Bucket
One of the most useful tools for mining in Minecraft is a water bucket. It can help you navigate lava lakes and prevent yourself from taking fall damage. When you come across lava, place water to create an obsidian block that you can use as a bridge. Be sure to pick up the water after you're done using it so you can use it again in the future.
5. Keep an Eye Out for Caves
Caves are one of the most exciting features of Minecraft, and they're also a great source of ores. When mining, keep an eye out for openings in the walls or ceilings. These are often signs of a nearby cave. If you find a cave, explore it thoroughly to find ores, loot, and other treasures.
6. Use Fortune Enchantment
Fortune is an enchantment that can be added to your pickaxe to increase the number of ores you receive. The higher the level of the enchantment, the more ores you'll receive from each block you mine. This enchantment is especially useful for finding diamonds, as you'll often get multiple diamonds from each block.
7. Use TNT for Quick Mining
If you're looking to mine a large area quickly, TNT is a great tool to use. Place TNT blocks strategically around the area you want to mine, then light the fuse. The explosion will clear a large area of blocks, making it easy to collect ores quickly. Be careful when using TNT, as it can be dangerous and cause damage to your surroundings. You can also use Beds in the Nether, but be careful, beds explode immediately when you click on them so you may take some damage.
8. Use a Silk Touch Enchantment
Silk Touch is another enchantment that can be added to your pickaxe. This enchantment allows you to mine blocks and pick them up without breaking them. This is especially useful for collecting delicate blocks, such as glass, ice, or glowstone. It also allows you to transport large blocks, such as ores, without having to break the block, letting you take the block back to your base for smelting.
